Day 3 - Decisions and Circles

Many dilemmas today about where and how to place things; whether I should just use one coloured pen and try to represent the different tones through dots and lines and cross-hatching etc. I drew 12 circles and four pairs of fat lines and finished the first area of diamonds. You can see my shadow reflected by the sun behind me in one of the photos. Lost in a love of drawing. Worked from 11.30-3.30pm. Beautiful cold, sunny winter's day. Now for a walk by the sea.

I think that I'm going to become as pleasurably obsessive about following your progress as you are going to have to be about creating the drawing! Does this qualify as "Live Art"? The blog phenomenon certainly adds a new dynamic to making art!

Thanks bluemonkey1. The blog phenomenom is liberating. But 'Live art' - that's a frightening thought ... everything I do is about control. I've been lost for a while and suddenly I feel more grounded. There's a purpose to that twenty minute walk down to the studio each day. That's what I loved about my postcards - Everyday for a year I knew what I was doing, that was safe ... Yet, the idea of trying to sustain something for 365 days was quite overwhelming at times, and quite a risk in itself. There has to be a balance between safety & risk, and like Rachel Chapman expressed last night between the aesthetic and the conceptual - that really rang bells for me ... I want the buzz of something being aesthetically pleasing or even puzzling but also making me think - That's what I like about drawing, and why The Jerwood Drawing Prize is often so stimulating.
bluemonkey1 should consider entering this year ... and don't forget, you read it here first !
